Media, "Aam-junta" & Memory
Apparently media now has new topic of discussion - INDIAN OF THE YEAR, ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR(A. KHAN) or SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE blah blah. I pity our nation for getting independence and becoming republic. Did we become Republic for this reason so that we can have fun even when the house is burning. Kashmir issue is anyway a favorite side dish for all the scoun***** who are at the Lok Sabha, the Naxal issues and crime against women & children are a never ending cancer for us. Amidst all this we have Thackerey clan reminding us about that we are Marathi & not Indians(though they will close their speeches, with politically correct statements, "JAI HIND! JAI MAHARASHTRA") & scams from fodder, bofors, hawala, stock market(Mehtas, Parekhs & now the Rajus of the world) & also umpteen attempts & success to assassinate some sensible leaders like Indira Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi along the line of Terrorist Attacks.
Hence I really don't understand should we rejoice our freedom or frown? There is no GOD who will take care of us if we abuse ourselves amidst our celebration of Maha Aartis of Ram Navmi, Ganesh Chaturthi or Durga Puja in the middle of a busy road when some woman in labor need to reach Hospital urgently, or Id or Pateti or X'Mas or Guru Nank Jayanti or Baisaakhi or Laxmi Pujan or umpteen other festivals which remind us our wonderful culture of acceptance & tolerance but sadly does not forces us to practise. Unfortunately we have accepted and tolerated our Ministers & Politicians and until some time ago Under World too, not to mention the sad state of Indian Cinema from North to South or East to West. We have tolerated and accepted our very own next door neighbors to relatives who finish their education in India and fly abroad for greener pastures and come back to flaunt their assets with India bashing and bitching. We have tolerated & accepted the new age of followings of Indian "ishtyle" of Western cultures to larger extent(Gay relations, Pre-marital Sex, Live-in relationship, Love Marriages(with no consideration for elders), Pizzas-Birgers or Italian, Mexican, Thai Food). We have accepted & tolerated everything that Miscrosoft sells us or US Companies throw at us what we call as "Software Projects" so that we can copy-paste laboriously. We have accepted & tolerated the unaccepting and intolerant teachers who never understood the meaning if guidance and becoming a light house to our career(with few exceptions, of course). We have accepted & tolerated our economic ups & downs. Funny, until 2004 we had stories & advertisements from the BJP Govt of India is Rising / Shining and there was this numero uno tag line for everything under Sun that shines on India, "A Feel Good Factor" with ignorance to our neghbor China's same factors. Within 8 years we went upto the level of SHINING & now with hardly any LUSTRE but only BURNING CORPSES & TERROR on STREETS.

I guess you have got it right.... First thing Media should not campaign with things like indian of the year, star of the year,,.. they have a better thing to do with and they should highlight all the plight and the problems that we are facing.....
If media decides & takes appropriate actions, things will change. Political establishment will take the right step. I am against war, but if we have to die eating in a restaurant, then let us die in a war. Pakistan is an establishment which came out of begging from us. Today it has become a threat to us and a center for terrorism. Thanks to Gandhiji, who I feel on an individual level has fantastic attribute but for some one who gives his opinion to entire Nation, cannot be idolized. He is not a true visionary.
Media is busy rejoicing. People are ignorant as usual. The next disaster is waiting to happen. There are so many cells of these terror out fits within small pockets of each city that we neither have human resource nor the technology to handle. So why should we be happy to hear the Amir Khan has made 200 crores due to Ghazini? Imbecile!
