Slow & Steady wins Spirituality

In physics, we come across an interesting analogy of the spiritual path in the form of one reversible path. In thermodynamics, work can be accomplished by two different ways, reversible & irreversible. All natural processes are said to be irreversible since they are either spontaneous or abrupt. Like irreversible processes such as, water or heat or a gas flows from a higher level to a lower level and cause changes in the surroundings.

In case of reversible process the science tells us that it is a slow process, so much so that the change does not affect the ambiance at all, or in the language of thermodynamics it is always in equilibrium with the surroundings. Because of the slowness of the process as also the fact that it does not inflict any changes to the surroundings, it takes a pretty long time, to go from on state to another state.

Way to spiritualism is also a reversible process in my context. Since irreversible processes such as growth(in terms of age and physique), lust or lure for luxury, greed or being pompous for a while cause changes around us(read surroundings), one cannot attain spiritual enlightenment with these means. I don't detest Spiritual Gurus or ethos who are proponents of such philosophy of embracing modern life style or chasing luxury and means to it such as Osho Rajneesh and others, but their thought process is certainly skeptical for me. I am little bit of orthodox(read old styled) in this case. I believe only by discarding these worldly pleasures one can achieve the necessary spiritual enlightenment and it is indeed a very, very slow but a reversible process in the sense of attaining "nirvana"!

A reversible path can also be reversed to the initial state without disturbing the surroundings in the same way as followed in the forward cycle. The resemblance here is surprising as the divine seeker in the exalted state may slowly come down to the normal state for the benefit of mankind.

One good question in thermodynamics too is why reversible processes are slow? In this context of spiritualism, slowness is the prerequisite for attaining spiritual enlightenment for human beings, sadly, with all natural evidences too, other animals cannot as much as humans can. The plausible answer may be that the human mind is expansive. The fastest moving complex system, which is otherwise almost impossible to restrain, needs the nagging slowness for a considerable period of time as the perfect antidote to control it, so that each and every minutest level of mind can be focused and sensitized to the maximum effect. Thinking is indeed a slow process no matter what Dhirubhai Ambani says as "think quick!" Hence I would say, Slow & Steady wins Spirituality not sooner or later but in the right time.

Very Interesting Article like always, I like the fact that you always stretch your mind through thinking and the writing process. Jus one comment on the following statement you have made.

I believe only by discarding these worldly pleasures one can achieve the necessary spiritual enlightenment and it is indeed a very, very slow but a reversible process in the sense of attaining "nirvana"!

To Attaining spiritual enlightenment, one need not discard what he or she has, one needs to discard what one he or she does not have. We all have enough to live a happy life, but the movement we look at our friends or nebiouhrs and say we want a life style like them that is where the problem begins. then we start to chase our friends dream and put our life in to misery.

According a Pharmahamsa Nithyananda, we all come in to this world to full fill our goals and we are all equiped with all tools to achieve them, after we come, we look at other and start adding to our needs, like I want that too, I want this too and now we start to chase all, let us say for the sake of understanding that I give you $100 for one days loadging and boarding and to finish your work, but now you look at some thing and you want to buy that as well and you see another thing and you start to buy that also, nt you $100 which was originally give to finish your original task has been stretched and when you are not able to achiev what you came for frustration, anger, disatifaction happens.

Do not renounce what you have renounce what you do not have is the leasson to be master if one wants enlightment, learning or mastering the art of being content or satisfied is a must.

You know we can talk a lot on this, I will stop here and let you ponder.
